The White House urged the Iraqi government to deal with the issue in line with international norms, the appeal to reflect in what appears to fear is declared to be the motives behind the issue of al-Hashemi political, or may be administered in a manner lacking neutrality.

Contact and Vice President Joe Biden telephoned Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Parliament Speaker Osama Nujaifi to discuss the matter, saying that the United States is watching events closely. His office said in a brief statement «stressed the U.S. commitment to long-term strategic partnership with Iraq and our support for the government and the importance of a comprehensive post to act in accordance with the rule of law and the Constitution of Iraq». Said White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters earlier in the «We are concerned in this regard is clear», pointing out that U.S. officials in contact with Iraqi leaders.
