Baghdad (AIN) –Member of the Security and Defense Parliamentary Committee MP, Mudhir al-Janabi, accused "The Iraqi Army 17th Division of violating "The human rights and the constitution by conducting wide arrest campaigns."

He stated to All Iraq News Agency (AIN) "The 17th Division, after the US forces' withdrawal in 2011 and the beginning of 2012, started violating the human right and the article 19th of the constitution by ignoring the independence of the judicial system in the investigations with the detainees."

"The Committee summoned the Commander of the 17th Division who confirmed that the Division has 260 detainees at its headquarter who were arrested on the basis of judicial warrants issued by a judicial committee brought inside the headquarter of the Division," he added.

"The detainees' confessions are written by the elements of the Division without the presence of lawyers," he assured, stressing that "The confessions are documented under torture."

He called "The three Presidencies to interfere urgently to stop these violations." /End/
