The High Commissioner for human rights announced a Court of competent jurisdiction in issues of individual rights

Twilight News/High Commissioner for human rights Tuesday, a court specializing in human rights issues, as noted as the first in the history of the Iraqi judiciary.

altUNHCR said, pleased black, at a press conference in the Parliament building attended by "Twilight", "the Commission has held intensive meetings with the President and members of the Supreme Council of the judiciary, resulted in the formation of the court specializing in human rights issues", stating that "a Court of inquiry has been set up in every district appellate jurisdiction to investigate complaints referred to it by the Presidency of the prosecution and sent from the High Commissioner for human rights".

He added that "the Development Division at the headquarters of the general allegation linked to the Office of the Chief Prosecutor responsible for receiving complaints from the Office," adding that "the Commission will receive complaints of human rights violations in Iraq through the website or through the Complaints Division of the Office of the High Commissioner".

Observers suggest that human rights issues in Iraq, still suffers from many shortcomings in handling detainees and resolving issues in police stations and detention centres, as well as problems relating to freedom of expression and demonstration, since no law or regulation conducive for people to enjoy freedom of expression recommended in the Constitution, and frequently used the security forces to prevent protests, as well as neglect of human rights in the field of employment and housing.
