Russian President Vladimir Assistant Kogen revealed Tuesday unveiled his country's intention to hand over Iraq weapons worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
He stressed Kogen, in a statement quoted by news agency "Sputnik" Russian, that Moscow intends to supply Iraq with new weapons, mostly firearms and light armored vehicles and aircraft.
In the Russian official response to a question on the payment of the value of arms that Russia delivered to Iraq, Kogen said that Moscow is facing difficulties in the collection of value supplied to Iraq because the US imposed on banks in regards to dealing with Russia sanctions.
A few days ago, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed his country's readiness to supply Iraq with weapons and ammunition in order to cope with the organization of the Islamic state Daash who dominated large parts of the country.
Lavrov made the remarks during Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's visit to Moscow.
In October / October 2013, Russia began to supply arms including fighter helicopters "Mi -35" and "Mi -28" to Iraq, and a number of training Iraqi experts to lead the helicopters in the Russian military aviation center.
In the spring of 2014, Moscow and Baghdad signed an additional set of contracts involving the supply of aircraft attack aircraft "Su -25" and defensive systems and ammunition worth some billion dollars.
