Election Commission announced Wednesday that the Presidency of the Kurdistan Regional Government agreed to set a date provincial councils elections in the region next November 21, stressing that the decision was based on the powers vested in the regional government in this regard.



The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners in the Commission Serbst Mustafa Rashid in an interview for "Alsumaria News", "The Electoral Commission sent a book opinion for the presidency of the Kurdistan Regional Government on the conduct of provincial elections, which in November 21, 2013," noting that "the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region Nechirvan Barzani agreed, today, to set a date proposed by the Commission to conduct the elections. "



Rashid added that "the decision to approve the appointment election comes under the powers of the Presidency of the Government of the Territory to determine the date of the elections."



The Kurdistan Regional Government identified in (3 June 2013), the 21st day of September next, the date for the provincial elections in the region in conjunction with the parliamentary elections, calling on the concerned authorities to take the necessary measures to prepare for the electoral process.



The President of the Electoral Commission for elections Serbst Mustafa, said in a press statement earlier, that the Commission is now "completely helpless" for organizing provincial elections in the Kurdistan Region on schedule by September 21 next, he said, adding that UNHCR was awaiting a final decision from the Government of the Territory to schedule another alternative , while denied a member of the Board of Commissioners in the Commission Mohsen al-Moussawi, postpone elections provinces of the Kurdistan region, stressing that the Commission continues its logistics procedures for holding the elections on
