Baghdad / Aswat al-Iraq : President Jalal Talabani met today with US Department of State Assistant Secretary and discussed his meetings with heads of political entities during the past few days and his efforts to unify attitudes.
In a presidential statement, Talabani discussed with William Burns , and his accompanying delegation, bilateral relations in the light of joint strategic partnership on all levels.
Points of discussion were raised on the Iraqi political and security affairs and the present challenges facing the country.
The statement added that Talabani reviewed his contacts with Iraqi political entities.
The US delegation stressed that "the US is observing with interest the role of President Talabani to solve pending issues.
They expressed the readiness of US leadership to support President Talabani's efforts with Iraqi leader to find suitable solutions for present problems.
