Ministry of Transport: five global tenders for the management of docks in the port of Umm Qasr


BAGHDAD - Iraq Press - March 6 / March: The Ministry of Transportation received bids from five foreign companies as a prelude to contract with one of them to take over the management of five berths in the port of Umm Qasr, southern style joint operation, a method approved by the Ministry for years in an attempt to develop a commercial ports.
He said Transport Minister Hadi al-Amiri said in a statement received / Iraq Press /, that "the ministry is determined to provide an opportunity for companies discreet to contribute to the development of ports, so we had a meeting at Basra International Airport to receive tenders of companies wishing to run five berths in the port of Umm Qasr, southern according to a formula interoperability , "noting that" five companies submitted bids out of 14 companies expressed a desire to run and operate the sidewalks of the five jointly with the General Company for Ports. " Amiri pointed out that "the ministry has contracted with an Italian expert cast it upon himself to evaluate the tenders of companies technically, and then will contract with the company with the best offer technical and financial support," adding that "the sidewalks open for interoperability are sidewalks sequence from No. 2 to No. 7" .
For his part, Director of the General Company for Ports Omran Radi said that "the company plans to offer more of the docks business to run the joint, and in particular the sidewalk No. 8 in the port of Umm Qasr south," explaining that "companies that are competing to win a contract to operate the sidewalks of the five other companies (CMA) French, (Kolff Tinner) Emirates (Ghazal) of Kuwait. "
