A newspaper revealed the launch of Iraqi authorities release [57] detained Saudis.


Iraq and Saudi Arabia was signed on 24 June last year the Convention on the exchange of prisoners between the two countries allows them the opportunity to spend the rest of their sentences in their homeland, in the framework of the Riyadh Convention on judicial cooperation of Arabic in 1983.


Saudi Al-Watan newspaper quoted Tuesday by the head of the Committee for the defence of Saudi detainees in Iraq Thamer Al-blaihed said "Iraqi authorities freed 57 prisoners, Saudis, and expected home within a week.


Anderson added that "release includes detainees sentenced to death, five detainees [Abdullah Azzam Al-Qahtani, Shadi auvan Al-shammari, Bader j, Julie, Mahmoud Al-shanqeeti women]".


"We have pledges from Iraqi authorities not to execute them until their cases are reviewed," adding that "[57] Saudi detainees were brought before a medical Committee in Baghdad confirmed their safety and health."


This release comes a day before a scheduled visit by Saudi security delegation to Baghdad on Wednesday to end an exchange of prisoners between the two countries.


Statistics show that the number of prisoners in Iraqi prisons, numbering [90] prisoners, while the number of Iraqi prisoners in Saudi jails to more than 200 prisoners, and the two countries signed last year initialed an agreement to exchange prisoners.


For his part, the Iraqi Ambassador in Saudi Arabia disclosed on the Iraqi Government to stop executions in Saudi prisoners in Iraq.


The Iraqi-Saudi Security Committee of high-level fair last month signed an exchange agreement [166] a Saudi and Iraqi prisoners in two jails, that entered into force in 30 days from the date of signature of the agreement, the Interior Minister, Mohammed bin Nayef, the Deputy Interior Minister Adnan Al-Assadi, during the latter's visit to Riyadh in late last November 2012 to set up a joint Commission to meet in Saudi Arabia to boost the transfer of persons sentenced to custodial penalties under regional conventions And between the two countries, in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, and consistent with the laws and regulations applicable in Saudi Arabia and Iraq..
