Called on the United States of America, the Governments of the Kurdistan Region and its federal counterpart to approve the decisions taken on the issue of Kirkuk.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region received "Twilight News" copy The Kurdish regional president Massoud Barzani received on Sunday the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Steve Beecroft.

The statement added that "the two sides discussed during the meeting, bilateral relations between the United States of America and the Kurdistan Region and ways of enhancing them in the interest of both parties, as well as to discuss his talks and a delegation of the Kurdistan Region political and government in Baghdad."

The statement continued that it was "to emphasize the importance of continuing the talks between the two sides to reach a radical solutions to the crisis experienced by Iraq."

The statement noted that "the two sides discussed the current situation in the province of Kirkuk and how to deal with it."

For his part, called the U.S. ambassador to "the need for the consent of the two sides (Erbil - Baghdad) in the decisions made about Kirkuk," stressing "the U.S. embassy's readiness to provide assistance in this regard."

The head of the government, and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Nouri al-Maliki has ordered the creation Operations Command Tigris, according to the decision Diwani number 372 issued on July 31 last, that are subject to all the forces of interior and defense, in Diyala and Kirkuk for this leadership.

But the security committee in the Kirkuk council rejected the resolution on the grounds that maintaining safe and disputed areas, stressing that the resolution will fail without prior coordination between the governments in Baghdad and Erbil and Kirkuk.

The province of Kirkuk, 250 km north of Baghdad, is one of the disputed areas, which were supposed to be subject to the application of Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution.

Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution on the normalization of the situation in the province of Kirkuk and disputed areas in other provinces such as Nineveh and Diyala, and set period of time expired in the atheist and the thirtieth of December 2007 to implement all provisions in the said article of action, but the article did not apply because of obstacles encountered, and Kurds say those obstacles deliberate and political federal government denies this.
