Iraq Parliament votes by majority on ministerial reduction

Monday, July 18, 2011 15:43 GMT
During its 12th session held by Parliament Speaker Ousama Al Nujaifi and in the presence of 202 lawmakers, Iraq’s Parliament voted by majority on ministerial reduction in principle, a source told Alsumaria.

MP Samira Al Moussawi said that Parliament was handed a proposal by Premiership including the ministerial reduction program which stipulates to keep 29 out of 46 ministries.

Ministries to be cancelled include the State ministries and two other ministries.

Iraq’s Parliament will host next week Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki to discuss his letter about ministerial reduction and government program which will be voted upon later, a parliamentary source told Alsumarianews.
