Baghdad, July 8 (AKnews)- Ayad Allawi, the leader of al-Iraqiya bloc, will participate in the meeting of the political leaders tomorrow in Iraqi president’s house in Baghdad, al-Iraqiya spokesperson said today.

Iyad Allawi and Jalal TalabaniThe interim PM, Allawi, was criticized for ‘evading’ the previous meeting in Jalal Talabani’s house on June 20. The gathering was to find a solution for the squabble over the allocation of security ministries and to settle the tensions between al-Iraqiya and the National Coalition (NC).

Maysun Damluji, al-Iraqiya spokesperson, told AKnews Erbil agreement and national coalition government will be the main points of the agenda for talks tomorrow.

Under Erbil agreement, which was proposed by Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani in November, both Talabani and the PM Nouri al-Maliki retained their posts for the second term.

Allawi was promised a new National Council of Strategic Policies in turn for his compromise over PM post. However, the executive council has not been formed, leading al-Iraqiya accuse Maliki and his bloc, NC, of violating Erbil pact.

The threats with withdrawing from the government by al-Iraqiya were followed by a parliamentary boycott and freezing talks with the NC.

It took nine months for parliament to vote to the new cabinet but assigning the interior, defense and national security ministries has proved difficult due to disagreements between al-Iraqiya and NC.

What seems to further complicate matters is PM’s intension to exclude the ‘redundant inefficient’ ministries from the new cabinet. Speculations vary and some observers believe the new cabinet may be reduced from 44 to a 25-members cabinet
