Baghdad (AIN) –Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council SIIC Ammar al-Hakeem assured that Iraq represents the heart of the Middle East as the European Union represents the heart of the world which creates good chances for strategic alliance between Iraq and the European Union.
A statement announced by SIIC and received by (AIN) said that “Hakeem stressed, during his meeting with the Ambassadors of the European Union in Iraq in his office on Saturday, the need to overcoming all the obstacles that face such alliance,” confirming “Iraq’s willingness to achieve balance in its international relations.”
He noted that “Iraq retrieved in the scientific and technologic race because of the difficulties it experienced.”
“We are hoping from the European Union to provide the Iraqi students with enough scholarship programs and to help and support with releaving Iraq from the seventh chapter and other international sanctions,” the statement added. /End/
