LEAD STORY: Talabani confers with Turkish Ambassador on strengthening of strategic relations

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq's President, Jalal Talabani, has conferred in Baghdad on Saturday with the Turkish Ambassador
to Baghdad on the bilateral strategic relations between both countries, in such a way that secures their joint interests, according to
an Iraqi Presidential statement.

"President Talabani has confirmed during the reception the significance of the joint action to develop the relations of joint friendship,
especially the strengthening of the current strategic relations between both sides, based on joint interests of both countries, in the
political, economic, trade, development fields, along with the other investment opportunities," the statement pointed out.
It stressed that "the viewpoints have been exchanged about the course of the political process in Iraq and several other issues of
joint interest."
The Turkish Ambassador, on his part, the statement stressed had "highly assessed the major role by the Iraqi President on the
political arena, in addition to his fruitful efforts in reconstruction and development of bilateral relations between the Republic of
Iraq and Turkish Republic."
