Transparency International issued its annual report, today, Tuesday, and Iraq's performance was weak again, as

Iraq ranked tenth among the most corrupt countries in the world along with Zimbabwe, Cambodia and Honduras, with a score of 23 out of 100.

And the iCord Daily website quoted in a report translated by the agency “Information” that “in 2021, Iraq improved by two points in the index, as it rose by three places from the bottom of the graph, but despite this improvement,

Iraq is still much lower than the global average of 43 and is considered One of the most corrupt countries in the world.”

He added, "The Kurdistan region of Iraq is considered one of the most corrupt regions of Iraq.

According to Kurdish lawmakers and leaked documents, billions of dollars are lost every year in oil revenues in Iraqi Kurdistan.

He added, "The Kurdistan Democratic Party of the Barzani clan and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan affiliated with the Talabani family have controlled the region for decades, and

both families are routinely accused of corruption, and according to local and international analysts and observers,

the lack of oversight mechanisms in Iraqi Kurdistan makes it a paradise for illegal financial activities by Kurdish leaders." rulers.”

He explained that critics and observers "routinely accuse the ruling Barzani clan in Iraqi Kurdistan of greed and of amassing huge wealth from the oil trade to the family rather than serving the population,

while the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the head of the Barzani clan, Massoud Barzani, remains the most powerful leader in the shadows according to analysts."

Masrour, the son of Massoud, is the prime minister of the Kurdistan region, and his nephew, Nechirvan Barzani, is the president of the Kurdistan region.

The report indicated that "the Barzanis and the Taliban control a large number of commercial enterprises in Iraqi Kurdistan and many oil fields throughout the region, with a total value of several billion US dollars."
