It is hoped that the Ministry of Industry and Minerals will export electrical products to Syria next month, while seeking to activate export contracts to Iran and Jordan.

The director of the Ur General Company in Dhi Qar affiliated with the Ministry, Haider Sahar Al-Hussainawi, said in an interview with Al-Sabah newspaper, which was reviewed by Al-Eqtisad News, that “the company holds an ISO certificate from the most prestigious international companies (FXCLE) and production is subject to standardization and quality control.

It has achieved a quantum leap in production rates after the introduction of new lines in the company's factories in the production of suspended electrical and pneumatic cables, and various types of household wires and aluminum sheet clips of various sizes and types with the latest specifications.

He stated that “production capacity decreased during the year 2020 due to the events in Dhi Qar Governorate, as well as the outbreak of the Corona pandemic and the closure of the company for several months, as the production capacity reached 34 thousand tons per year and it is not at the required level, and the exploited of it exceeds 25 percent, confirming the presence of great determination. During this year, to raise production in order to export it abroad.

He pointed out, "The existence of contracts with the Ministry of Electricity amounting to between 25-30 percent of the ministry's need that all its subsidiaries use, as well as the existence of joint cooperation with most ministries and various sectors."

Al-Hussainawi explained, "The next strategic plan aims to make the company's products an alternative to what is imported from abroad and have more quality and international standards, as a plan has been developed to develop production and export three products, including suspended electrical and pneumatic cables, as well as aluminum sheets to Syria within many decades during Next month of the current year after the completion of all the fundamental procedures for exporting, and he pointed out that

“the company is the first in the ministry to export its production abroad and activate the slogan (Made in Iraq),

and it is hoped that some of its products will be exported internationally and to other neighboring countries such as Iran and Jordan, in In light of the economic crisis that the country is going through, and as an important step to support the national economy, and to create an Iraqi purchasing market after it attracted consumers to national production.

He stressed "the existence of great competition between the public and private sectors," pointing out that

"the Iraqi industry has great capabilities, but the presence of some controls and instructions restrict the powers of the public sector and the inability of the company’s board of directors to work similar to the private sector, in addition to losing control over imported goods from "The exterior, which is characterized by its poor quality and lack of technical specifications required at low prices, and is a major obstacle facing the Iraqi industry."
