Baghdad / Al-Masala: Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar proposed, on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, the establishment of a company to manage extraction and export in the Kurdistan region, while noting that the directions of the regional government negotiator are in harmony with the federal government to reach a formula for constitutional solutions to disputes.
Abdul-Jabbar said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, which was followed by Al-Masalla, that he proposes establishing a company to manage extraction and export in Kurdistan, pointing out that there are positive understandings between the federal government and the region regarding oil production and export.
Abdul-Jabbar added that the talks confirm the existence of new visions and ideas for the region to manage the oil fields with Baghdad.
He added that the directions of the regional government negotiator are in harmony with the federal government to reach a formula for constitutional solutions to disputes.
Earlier, a member of the Parliamentary Labor and Social Affairs Committee, Fadel Al-Fatlawi, revealed that the House of Representatives had prepared a paragraph within the draft federal budget law for the year 2020 that included deducting oil dues from the region that are not delivered to the center according to the agreement.
Al-Fatlawi said that the federal budget for 2020 included a paragraph to deduct oil funds for 250,000 barrels, which the Erbil government refused to deliver in the 2019 budget to the Baghdad government, pointing out that these funds will be deducted from the region’s financial dues in the 2020 budget.
He added that the Kurdistan region will send a high-level delegation to Baghdad in the coming days to discuss not sending oil money and a number of pending issues between Baghdad and Erbil,
indicating that the paragraph will be canceled in the event that the region commits to paying financial dues from oil exports before completing the preparation of the draft federal budget law for 2020.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, a member of the House of Representatives for the Sairoun coalition, Salam al-Shammari, called on the government to resolve the issue of exporting the region’s oil and its belongings, especially the salaries of its employees, by visiting the Kurdish delegation today.
