{Baghdad: Al Furat News}
The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, received today, Thursday, a Japanese delegation representing the Japanese Project Group (FCC) in the southern refineries, which will convert the surplus waste in the oil industries into high-value products.

Al-Kazemi described the project, according to a statement by his office, "as the beginning of a long partnership with Japan, and a model for fruitful economic cooperation that will contribute to strengthening the Iraqi oil sector."

The ceremony for signing the contract for the planned FCC project in the South Refineries took place today, with JGC, in the presence of the Ministers of Oil and Planning.

The project aims to increase the production capacity of the Southern Refineries Company, by converting the surplus production waste represented by black oil into high-value products, such as high-octane gasoline, gas oil, mixed naphtha and fuel oil, with international specifications.

The project also includes a cracking unit with auxiliary agent in Basra, near Al-Shuaiba refinery, which is one of the advanced technology projects that enter Iraq for the first time, and will work on converting the black oil, which constitutes 40-50% of crude oil, into light products of high value.

It is noteworthy that the project will have a capacity of 55 thousand barrels per day, and will include the production of liquid gas with a capacity of 1000 tons per day, the production of gasoline up to 4,200 cubic meters per day, the production of hydrogenated gas oil with a capacity of 1,200 cubic meters per day, as well as the production of fuel oil for power stations.

These projects, which adopt the European environmentally friendly standards (Euro 5), will create thousands of new job opportunities.
