The Chinese ambassador to Iraq, Zhang Tao, said Sunday that Iraq is the second largest oil supplier to his country worth 20 billion dollars annually, while noting that the volume of economic exchange between the two countries amounted to 30 billion dollars last year, while pointing out that 20 thousand Iraqis visit China annually.
"The economic cooperation between Iraq and China maintains a good momentum, and the volume of trade exchange between the two countries is increasing and developing a lot every year, and by 10 percent, where the economic exchange exceeded 30 billion," Tao said in an interview with the official newspaper "Al-Sabah". "China is Iraq's biggest trading partner, Iraq is China's second largest oil supplier and China's fourth largest trading partner in the Middle East," he said.
"China has been importing crude oil. Beijing's imports of crude oil are about $20 billion. Iraq imports about 7 billion and 900 million tons of different goods every year," Tao said.
China also contributes positively to reconstruction in all fields."
Tao said that his country will "expand the granting of visas, giving about 20 thousand visas annually, mostly for businessmen and students, and we seek in the coming periods to activate the tourist visa."
