Undo Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Head of Mission of UNAMI in Iraq, Ad Melkert, for his remarks on human rights in Iraq.
Melkert said in a press statement received a written copy of which was long yesterday that the interpreter, who was transferred to speak was not accurate in his work. The Melkert stressed that Iraq is back in the forefront of countries in the region at the level of human rights, in the opening session of the Conference of the Consultation on the National Plan for Human Rights in Iraq yesterday.


Melkert said that the reports which dealt with some of the Iraqi media about the speech was based on a literal translation of the letter is inaccurate and is not to adopt the text translated into Arabic and distributed by the United Nations mission to help Iraq on the conference. According to the original text, distributed by the United Nations in Arabic that Iraq was the first country in the region that the path of democracy to ensure a prosperous future for all children. And that further progress on this road is very important for all. Thus, it is necessary to respond to the legitimate demands of the people and ensure the protection and respect for their human rights without any discrimination.
