Published: 2013/11/26 10:20

Baghdad (Forat) -With political stability, Iraq is now ready to receive foreign investors who are keen to participate in its huge nation re-building exercise, says the Iraqi Ambassador to Malaysia Prof. Dr. Basim Hattab Al-Tumma.
He said in statement reviewed by Alforat News Agency "There were tremendous opportunities for Malaysian companies in the field of oil and gas exploration, infrastructure development, commodity trading, halal food and other consumer items."
"Iraq was looking forward to Malaysia, a "brotherly Muslim country", to assist in its re-development efforts," Dr Basim assured.
The Malaysian oil giant, Petronas, is already in Iraq and the envoy hoped that more companies would follow suit, he continued
Dr Basim confirmed "Malaysia had a long established relationship with Iraq and hoped this would be further enhanced during his tenure here which began two months ago."
"He pointed out "Education was one field Iraq was keen to enhance with Malaysia and at present there were more than 3,000 Iraqi students pursuing various courses in Malaysian universities and colleges."
"There were also about 450 Iraqi professionals working in various fields in Malaysia, it was now easier for Malaysians to go to Iraq as there was a direct flight by Iraqi Airlines from Kuala Lumpur to Baghdad," he emphasized.
"At present, the flights are twice weekly and this frequency would be increased further depending on the demand," he concluded. /End/
