Maliki to Washington: Our position in support of a political solution in Syria's opposition to military intervention

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Iraq's position in support of a political solution in Syria's opposition to the military option.

Maliki said in an interview with the U.S. ambassador in Baghdad, Stephen Beecroft while attending to Maliki's office in order to know the position of Iraq, the official of the military intervention in Syria, according to a statement his office "that Iraq is concerned the potential for serious complications to any military intervention in Syria has permeated the entire region."

The statement added, "It was emphasized on the need to increase communication and coordination between Iraq and the United States at various levels.

"The well-informed sources have confirmed that U.S. President Barack Obama is considering a strike to the Syrian regime be limited in scope and time, at the time of intense consultations taking place between Western countries about a possible military intervention in response to a hypothetical attack with chemical weapons on 21 / August in Rural Damascus.
