The United Nations welcomed the results of the meeting of the leaders of Iraq, called the leader of the Iraqi list, Iyad Allawi, to establish trust between the political forces and the Government, while leaders downplayed the significance of the meeting and its outcome that they do not touch the problems facing Iraq.
He said the State of law coalition member Ibrahim Al-Rikabi, said the outcome of the meeting held Saturday under the auspices of the President of the Islamic Council Ammar al-Hakim, was important and acceptable from the political, explaining that the meeting was able to melt the ice and make the reconciliation between the leaders of the blocs. He appealed to "patriotic political forces abide by word of honor that came out of the meeting.
But iraqiya MP Talal Al-zubaie, the meeting is evidence of personal problems between political leaders. Noting that it was important to reach an agreement to stop the arrests and the settlement of the question of Rafi Al-Issawi and Tariq al-Hashimi and implement previous agreements and an end to the presence of militias as a gesture of goodwill. Al-zubaie said that the presence of political leaders will be useless, as long as the Government did nothing for the Iraqi people.
And the meeting, which was attended by most of the political leaders the word honor to respect the Constitution and renounced sectarianism, also saw a rare handshake between the Presidents of the Government of Nouri al-Maliki and Parliament Osama Al-nujaifi.
The representative of the Iraqi list, headed by Iyad Allawi, the Conference called to address the conditions that led to the eruption of the current crisis and tackle rampant corruption, bribery and the proliferation of armed militias. Also called Al-Maliki to establish trust between the political forces and the Government, and not just media conferences or just a hug. He otherwise would be Iraqis disappointed with this Conference.
For his part, welcomed the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq by Martin Kobler Iraqi blocs leaders meeting to unify visions and stand in the face of terrorism, he said in a statement that "the call to engage in a frank and constructive dialogue between all Iraqi leaders is the only way to bring Iraq out of the current political crisis", stressing that "it is necessary to maintain the positive momentum of the reconciliation initiative."
