Italian Foreign Minister: Iraq represents a major investment opportunity

Rome (IBA) said Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi during the third meeting of the Italian Committee - joint Iraqi and held under his chairmanship and his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari, that Iraq represents a major opportunity for the Italian industry.
Terzi said economic and trade relations between the two countries experiencing a season of intense development, while Italy is the first European economic partner of Iraq.
Terzi added that the stability of Iraq is vital for the interests of Italian, and consistent with the interests of the broader peace and security in the Mediterranean region as a whole.
Terzi revealed that Italy's commitments in Iraq now exceed 3.3 billion euros (4.3 billion dollars) and is proceeding in the way of continued enhancement of bilateral trade relations
For his part, Zebari said that the Iraqi government is committed to ensuring the safety of foreign investment, and assured the Italian companies that terrorist attacks should not be limited to affect business activity.
The Italy's exports to the country located in the Middle East recorded a steady increase over the past few years, to reach 490 million euros (642 million U.S. dollars) in 2011, led by 10 percent compared to 2010.
During the meeting, which was attended by officials and business leaders from trade unions, banks, and companies in the two countries, bilateral agreements were signed variety of areas ranging from aerospace engineering and promote investment into the culture relics.
