BAGHDAD / Center Brief for the Iraqi Media Network - Planning Department announced Thursday that the allocations of the census of population amounted to $ 120 million, saying it will be implemented (census) after three months of political blocs agree on a scheduled, mechanisms .


It was hoped to hold a census in the country in 2009 but was postponed more than once because of political disagreements about it .


He said the ministry spokesman Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi's (Center Brief for the Iraqi Media Network) "The Ministry of Planning in need of approximately $ 120 million for training personnel and providing the requirements of the population after the census for political consensus on the census . "


Iraq and lacks the numbers and statistics on various public and private sectors while trying to move forward the revitalization of the economic reality of the country which has suffered from neglect and vandalism over the years of war and siege .


He explained that "the money allocated in the past two years, which exceeded 200 billion dinars have been used to establish a center to include data center and introduced GIS as well as to train 350 thousand employees . "


Never in Iraq since the 1987 census a comprehensive around the country, because the census which was conducted in 1997 did not include the three governorates of the Kurdistan region .


The number of Iraqis, 16 million in 1987, and is expected to reach this time between 30 and 31 million, according to the expectations of the Central Bureau of Statistics .
