Maliki heads the National Security Council meeting

National Security Council held a meeting today to discuss developments in the Syrian crisis and its impact on the security situation in Iraq.

The Council has taken in its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, a series of resolutions on the organization of the process of receiving displaced Syrians and the emphasis on the accommodation in special camps and processing services as required, according to a statement by Maliki's office.

The statement pointed out that the Special Committee which inspected the border areas with Syria submitted a report on the ongoing developments and measures to be taken.

It is noteworthy that the National Security Council membership includes ministers of foreign affairs, finance, justice and national security adviser, in addition to a number of senior officers and security officials.
