Baghdad plans to hold talks with Exxon Mobil on its contract with the Kurdistan

Erbil, January 23 (Rn) - The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy, Hussain al-Shahristani said Monday that Baghdad planned to hold talks with Exxon Mobil, the American giant in the field of energy on a contract with the Kurdistan region to explore for oil and gas in six patches geography. It quoted "Reuters" Shahristani told Reuters on the sidelines of a conference of business between the Czech Republic and Iraq, saying that "Baghdad plans to conduct final talks with Exxon Mobil on the partnership agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government."

Shahristani said that Iraq plans to increase oil production and exports by 500 thousand barrels per day this year and at a higher rate in 2013. He said, "we added about half a million barrels per day in 2011 in production and exports, and there will be half a million barrels a day more or a little more than in 2012 and add more of that in 2013.
