BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Legislature of al-Iraqiya Alliance, Liqaa Wardi, has charged on Thursday that the Iranian threats to close the Strait of Hormiz in the Gulf are aimed at weakening Iraq economically and politically, according to a statement by her office.

"The Iranian threats to close the Strait of Hormiz aims to weaken Iraq economically," Wardi, said, adding that "the neighboring states consider Iraq as part of them and wish to gain economic and political gains from the continued violations in the area."

Wardi said that "the continuation of such threats, along with the UN Charter No.
7, imposing economic sanctions against Iraq, shall increase the country's
weakness, because the states that insist to keep the imposition of the Charter against Iraq, are trying to impose their economic control on Iraq," demanding "the Iraqi government to strengthen its internal politics and its outside presence, in order to put an end for the continued aggressions by those states against the security and sovereignty on Iraq."

She also called on the Iraqi Foreign Ministry "to move and act, to put an end for the violations of the neighboring states," adding "that Iraq had drawn a strategic
plan for its foreign relations."

Noteworthy is that Iran had threatened to close the Strait of Hormiz, in the event of an American or Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities
