Shaways, Pascoe discuss Iraq-UN relations
Baghdad, Deputy Prime Minister, Rowsch Nuri Shaways, discussed with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, B. Lynn Pascoe, and the delegation accompanying him the relations between Iraq and the United Nations.
In the meeting, attended by the Special Representative of the SG for Iraq (SRSG), Ad Melkert, Iraq's political situation was reviewed, as well as in the region, in addition to Iraq's relations between the UN and its agencies in Iraq with Iraq's government.
In the meeting, Shaways pointed out that the UN will have a big role in Iraq when its complex in Baghdad is completed and the staff members is increased.
Being Chairman of the International Partnership Committee, Shaways expressed readiness to facilitate the works of UN organizations in Iraq.
The two touched on Iraq-Kuwait relations, during which Shaways pointed out that Iraq seeks to establish normal and good relations with all its neighbors, including Kuwait, asserting that out standing issues have to be solved through diplomacy and dialogue.
