Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Farhad Nematullah Hussein, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the government encourages foreign investment opportunities to work inside Iraq in all fields.
Hussein added, while presiding over a meeting to simplify tax accounting mechanisms for major local and foreign companies, according to a statement by the Cabinet Secretariat, that "the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers is working to coordinate with the relevant sectoral bodies, and provide all facilities for the work of investment companies inside Iraq."
According to the statement, the Director General of the General Tax Authority reviewed "the authority's procedures in providing facilities and simplified mechanisms for tax accounting for companies operating in Iraq."
The statement continued, "The meeting's recommendations concluded that a meeting was held between the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau and the General Tax Authority, for the purpose of reaching a consensual formula to simplify the procedures for the corporate tax accounting mechanism."
