President of Kurdistan Region welcomes U.S. Vice-President and the delegation accompanying him





Erbil: U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, yesterday evening, Thursday, 1/12/2011, to the Kurdistan Region at the head of a delegation that included U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey and the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, Gen. Lloyd Austin, and several other U.S. officials. The delegation was received at the Erbil International Airport, Mr. Massoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Region.

After the ceremony the reception, a meeting between the two sides in the presence of Dr. Barham Ahmed Saleh, head of the Prime Minister in the Government of the Region and Vice President Azad Berwari and Karim Sinjari, Minister of Interior, Falah Mustafa, head of foreign relations, in search of the general situation in Iraq and the region. And Deputy Chairman of the United States during the meeting, to support his ongoing for the new Iraq, saying that the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq is not the end of cooperation between the two countries, but we will continue our relations in the framework of the strategic agreement between the two sides, and the United States will help Iraq in the process political, security and stability and economic development.

Biden stressed that the future relationship with Iraq will be on the basis of a government of genuine partnership and a federal democratic Iraq.

The Vice-President George attention on the role of the Kurdistan Region as a safe, sophisticated and worthy of U.S. support, reaffirmed the commitment of his country's support of the province.

During the meeting, stressed the need to sustain the political relations of the United States with Iraq in general and the Kurdistan Region in particular and developed after the withdrawal of U.S. forces, and to continue U.S. support for the democratic experience in Iraq, and in this regard, Biden said: "It is true that U.S. forces will withdraw from Iraq, but the obligations of States Nations towards Iraq and the Kurdistan Region will remain the same. "

For his part, praised the President of the Kurdistan Region, the role of the United States in helping the Iraqi people to get rid of the dictatorial regime and build a democratic federal Iraq, saying: "The people of Kurdistan seen appreciation of the sacrifices of the U.S. military," and expressed satisfaction with the confirmation of Vice President Joseph Biden on the obligations of his country's Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Biden praised the role of president of the region in the political process in Iraq and said, "proud that I have had friendly relations with President Barzani."
