Jaafari meets with Assad during a quick visit to Syria

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met with Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, who, Tuesday's visit to Damascus is the first by an Iraqi official at this level since the start of the Syrian crisis mid-March 2011.
Jaafari also met with his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Moallem held a press conference with him at the airport before leaving after a short visit lasted a few hours. He expressed his wishes for the teacher "that Egypt is playing a historic role and the dictates of the duty", pointing out that "history has shown that Syria, Egypt, Iraq can change the course of events in the region." Damascus announced in June 2014 its willingness to cooperate with Iraq in order to face the terror of organized "Daash" who fights the two forces.
