Political analyst Sabah Al-Ugaili confirmed, on Monday, that Masrour Barzani's talk about exporting energy to Europe confirms the Kurds' adherence to the ambition of independence from the Iraqi state.
Al-Ugaili said in a statement to the Information Agency, "The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, aspires and is trying in various ways to establish a Kurdish state independent of Iraq," noting that
"the weakness of successive governments has opened the way for the region to go beyond the constitutional reality and the powers and capabilities of Kurdistan, which is part of Iraqi state.
He added, "Barzani insists on transgressing the central government and the Iraqi constitution and not recognizing the invalidity of Kurdistan's actions with regard to oil and gas, and therefore he is obligated to fully implement the decision of the Federal Court."
He explained that "the current government is weak in front of the region, and although the central government sends 200 billion per month to Kurdistan, the region has not committed since 2014 until now to hand over oil revenues to Baghdad," noting that
"Barzani exports Iraqi oil to the Zionist entity within official documents, and this is a clear violation of the constitution." Iraqi and transgressed the law of the Iraqi state that criminalizes dealing with Israel.”
Al-Ugaili called on the parliament, the current government and the judiciary to “have a position regarding these constitutional violations by the Barzani government,” considering
“pleasant promises to export energy to Europe as a blow to the Iraqi state and indicate the ambitions of secession.” Done/25 SR
