Baghdad (NINA) – In his opening speech of the political personalities on Saturday evening, June 1, leader of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Ammar al-Hakeem, affirmed, "Our meeting today affirms that our adherence to Iraq is larger than our differences and our patriotism is bigger than our disputes."
He added, "We all realize the heavy burden, resulted from the past, has turned our country to bulk of pain forming our homeland."
Hakeem added, "We have gone long way, yet there is much more to do. The people will remember who stood on its side and who did not."
The meeting convened on Saturday evening with the attendance of Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki, Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, Vice President, Khoda'yir al-Khuza'e, in addition to other personalities have arrived to the meeting place.
