Parliamentarian: Legislating oil, gas, investment, and owners laws has become necessary

    January 2 16:02
Information/private..

Member of Parliament Ahmed Al-Sharmani stressed today, Thursday, the necessity of legislating important laws that touch the needs of the Iraqi people and not being preoccupied with controversial laws during the last legislative year of Parliament, such as the investment, oil and gas laws.

Al-Sharmani said in an interview with the “Al-Ma’louma” Agency,

“Parliamentary attention during the last period was directed towards protocol laws such as voting on the olive oil agreement, which was greatly criticized by the Iraqi street and considered to be unhelpful to it,” indicating that

“Iraq needs to reconsider its situation.” Retirees, employees, landlords law, people with special needs, slums, the housing crisis, and unemployment.” He added,

"One of the important laws that must be activated is the investment law, as well as the oil and gas law, as

it is a very important sovereign and economic law," stressing that

"the people are waiting for such important laws, not controversial laws that are neither enriching nor fattening." He continued,

"We hope that parliamentary work during the last legislative year of Parliament in its fifth session will touch the needs of the Iraqi citizen and legislate laws that actually serve him and have an impact in reality."

It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives failed during the last legislative term to pass controversial laws (personal status, general amnesty, and the law to return properties confiscated by decisions of the defunct Baath regime to their owners) despite holding several sessions to vote on them, and it is scheduled to resume sessions of the new legislative term on January 9 of the current year. Ended 25 B
