A government meeting to follow up on the implementation of the integrated gas development project

{Economic: Al-Furat News -} The Joint Management Committee of the Integrated Gas Development Project held its eighth meeting to discuss the plans and implementation stages of the project, which is considered one of the most important investment projects in the energy sector in Iraq.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber Ismail, confirmed during the meeting in a statement received by {Al-Furat News} that,
“The government and the Ministry of Oil are keen to implement their promising plans to invest in associated gas, stop burning it, and convert it into sustainable energy to support the energy and industry sectors.” Ismail pointed out that
"the project is being implemented in cooperation with Total Energy and the Qatari company, and aims to invest, process and collect gas from the fields of Basra Governorate with a capacity of 600 million standard cubic feet per day, in addition to a solar energy investment project with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts."
He explained that the meeting, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Extraction Affairs and members of the joint committee from the Iraqi side and investment companies, discussed "the
measures taken to implement the project phases, the timetable, and the percentages achieved so far." Ismail concluded by saying:
“We hope that this project will contribute to strengthening the energy sector and increasing national gas production, in addition to achieving the government’s goals of stopping gas burning, investing in it, and developing it, while preserving the environment.”
