Minister of Trade: Iraq is an official member of the World Grain Council

Today, Thursday, Minister of Trade, Dr. Alaa Al-Jubouri, announced Iraq's accession to the 1955 Grain Trade Treaty, to become an official member of the World Grain Council.
The ministry stated in a statement, quoting the official spokesman and his follower, Al-Muzakr Al-National News, that
"Iraq officially joined the most important treaty to regulate the grain trade between the countries of the world for the year 1995," noting that
"Iraq joined this treaty as of August 11." She added,
"It took all measures and procedures through coordination with the Grain Council, where the accession document was deposited with the United Nations in accordance with the legal contexts followed under Resolution No. (1) regarding the ratification of Law No. (1) of 2021, and thus Iraq's membership was officially announced." at the 57-nation World Grains Council". She pointed to the
"benefit of joining the Grain Council, stressing that
"opportunities will be provided to access all prices related to world markets directly, especially with the member states affiliated with the Council,
in addition to that it provides the opportunity to conclude multiple and bilateral agreements with member states regarding the trade of grains (wheat, Legumes, barley, corn) and others in a way that supports the country’s food security,
especially after the growing global challenges of food security, climate change, the Corona pandemic, the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the high rates of materials prices globally, as well as other challenges. And she stressed,
"This announcement will achieve for the ministry to ensure the sustainability of purchasing wheat and other basic grains to secure the country's food security requirements at moderate global prices and in accordance with the standards of the International Wheat Council." And she indicated,
"The International Grain Council will circulate the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the Grain Trade Treaty to the 57 member states."
