The Central Bank adopts an expanded conference to discuss the dangers of climate change and desertification

On the basis of the responsibility of the Central Bank of Iraq and its cooperation with the relevant institutions, the Central Bank sent a letter to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and many concerned institutions to coordinate about holding an expanded conference to discuss the environmental challenges and the major climate changes facing Iraq, as it is the fifth most vulnerable country to these global changes.

The book of the Central Bank included a set of important themes that the conference will discuss, including

    international tensions and the
negative consequences resulting from climate change, such as the food security crisis, the
    scarcity of fresh water,
energy and health, as well as the
    risks of mass displacement,
    overcrowding and
pollution of water sources due to frequent hurricanes.

The text of the book stressed the need for rapid collective action and the response of the concerned Iraqi institutions, and

coordination with countries and international organizations in this regard, with the

development of an interactive strategy to confront serious environmental challenges.

The conference is expected to be held at the end of May.

It is noteworthy that the Central Bank of Iraq has opened great horizons in several axes of sustainable development and renewable energy.
