The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), on Sunday, for the signing of Iraq and UNDP to the UN Convention on the organization in order to establish a fund to finance economic reform, which aims to employ the expertise to support the implementation of priority reform initiatives.

UNAMI said in a press statement, "The United Nations Development Programme and the Office of the Prime Minister of Iraq signed an agreement today in Baghdad to establish economic reform fund."

The statement said that "UNDP will support the government through this fund to address the head of economic challenges and promote the reform agenda, with a focus on diversifying the economy and increase national income and improve national asset management."

The statement also quoted the deputy director of the Office of the Prime Minister Nawfal al-Hassan as saying that "the Government of Iraq appreciates the support of the United Nations Development Programme for the implementation of the reform agenda, announced by the Prime Minister as part of a series of measures taken by the government to boost the economy."
