Zebari arrives to Oman to complete Iraq talks with IMF

Finance Minister Zebari arrived Thursday night to Jordanian capital of Oman to complete international consultations between the Government and representatives of the International Monetary Fund.

During the last period technical discussions between a Government delegation from the Ministry of finance and the Ministry of oil and Ministry of planning and Central Bank with IMF experts to review Iraq's obligations towards the SBA credit readiness programme with the Fund.

The Fund provides under this program over a three-year credit facility by $4.5 billion to Iraq to fill the financial gap and the budget deficit as a result of the financial and economic crisis in the country, according to a financial statement and response to twilight news.

As a result of Iraq's commitment to the Fund program to improve the performance of public financial policy and rationalize expenses and increase non-oil revenue transparency and combating corruption and money laundering legislation financial administration and the Central Bank, the total amounts to be provided by the program to Iraq within three years of the Fund and the World Bank and donor countries and international financial institutions is about 18 billion dollars to support the economy and finances of Iraq.

The Fund has an initial financial boost last July to Iraq totaled about $640 million for budget support, Iraq is due to receive a further boost in the amount of $640 million in November 2016 financial and economic reform plans established in the memorandum of economic and financial policies.

And participate in discussions of the Governor of the Central Bank and financial adviser to the Prime Minister and a number of general managers and experts at the Ministry of finance, planning and the Central Bank.
